Tenafly Regional Director Kai Performs in Japan

This past month, Kai, the Tenafly Regional Director for Composers Unveiled, took his advocacy for classical music representation overseas with a remarkable performance tour in Japan.

Performing at outreaches across Tokyo and Kyoto, which include Sagami Ono Christian Church and Sanikukai Hospital, Kai was able to entertain audiences with both his technical brilliance and his passion for sharing joy through music.

While at the Sanikukai Hospital, Kai performed a selection of humorous short pieces, which included Mozart’s Turkish March, a handful of Chopin Waltzes, and a selection of popular classical pieces. The seniors were incredibly pleased, shushing other seniors who were talking during the concert.

At the Sagami Ono Christian Church, Kai performed in the church’s main hall, with local townspeople selling out tickets. At this concert, Kai performed Chopin’s Etude Op. 25 no. 5, Schumann’s Faschingschwank, Ravel’s Le Tombeau de Couperin, and an assortment of other works which included Bach, Haydn, and Chopin. With a stunning performance, Kai received a standing ovation.

In the future, he hopes to continue sharing the joys of classical music, and even premiere and perform works by Japanese composers himself!
